Oscar Wilde's life was full of joy and beauty until he was put on trial for gross indecency. The play follows the events of the three trials in which Wilde defended himself, his art, and ultimately his homosexuality. As the trails drag on, Wilde loses his influence, wealth, dignity, and firends. The lighting design echoes this descent, pulling away until the final moments where Wilde is left alone and isolated on a dark stage.
